Maryland-Style Cod Cake Sandwiches
You might wonder if Blue Apron meals include enough ingredients to fill the hearty eaters at your table. I can honestly say that “yes” the ingredients are very filling and even my big eater found these meals satisfying. Each portion of the Maryland-Style Cod Cake Sandwiches serves up 720 calories. The patties are thick and very filling.
These Maryland-Style Cod Cake Sandwiches are seasoned with the warm flavors of bay leaf, celery, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper.
The seasonings are conveniently packed in a ready-to-use zipper sealed bag already pre-mixed. Just add the mix of seasonings to the cooked cod, and add the eggs and finely ground matzo and voila’ – Maryland-Style Cod Cakes! You can find the 2 Tablespoons of Chesapeake Spice Blend in the “Knick Knacks” brown bag included in the Blue Apron packaging.
Before shaping your cod cakes, be sure to let the mixture stand for a few minutes. This allows the ingredients – including the eggs and finely ground matzo – to bind together, keeping the cakes intact as they cook.
I love how you don’t even have to think about side dishes with Blue Apron. The Red Cabbage Slaw was the perfect accompaniment to these delicious Maryland-Style Cod Cakes!

Great for 2-4 people but cost effective for a family of 6 or more.. Packaging is great. We tried it once and it was cool but didn’t feed all of us.
I meant not cost effective
Thanks for the feedback Loretta. If you compare Blue Apron to supermarket prices, Blue Apron does cost a bit more. But the quality is so much better. The meats were amazing and are from hormone-free, grass fed livestock (which is better for everyone). You also get something akin to a cooking lesson, easy meals already planned, and above average flavor on every dish. With a calorie in-take of 500-800 calories per dish – even my husband was satisfied with the serving sizes. I like how it gets me to combine new things and add variety. It’s a great option for home chefs who want healthy ingredients that are fresh AND tasty, and who want to try new things.
