Preschool Alphabet – E is for Elbow

October 27, 2012

We are our preschool alphabet and E is for elbow and excellent fun! This time I didn't have enough for a sensory bin, so I collected some plastic eggs, a stuffed elephant, a video of Elmo and at the last moment I threw in some pasta elbows. You know what became the biggest hit?  The elbows! Peanut was drawn to the elbows right away.  He loved shaking the box and enjoyed the sounds it ... View Post

Preschool Alphabet – D is for Drum

October 24, 2012

In our preschool alphabet "D" is for drum but "D" is also for devotion. A devotion for the letter "D";  "D" is for delight. Psalm 37:4, New International Version (NIV) Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. I am so thankful that God has given us these precious children.  As I watch them play and learn, I feel the desires of my heart being ... View Post

Preschool Alphabet – C is for Cheerful

October 22, 2012

We are on the letter "C" in our preschool alphabet which is for cheerful. I couldn't resist adding a video of our nearly nine-month-old because he is just so cute!  He laughs easily and has a wonderful disposition.  I enjoy watching his personality bloom as he becomes more alert and aware of his surroundings every day.  Just one look at that grin and I know you'll smile.  Here is a video of our ... Homeschooling – Classical Conversations

October 19, 2012

Ever wonder how homeschooling moms do it?  Or wanted to see an actual homeschooling co-op in action?  I did.  Yesterday I had the unique opportunity to attend an open house for Classical Conversations.  I attended one of their  Foundations classes (for students ages 4-12) which meet once weekly from 9:10 AM to 12 noon, during which time their students learn new memory work, review past memory ... Preschool Alphabet – B is for Blocks

October 17, 2012

Teaching the Toddler Alphabet I know every parent feels this way, but I think our little man is so smart!  He has an incredible vocabulary and truly grasps the meaning of so many words.  It's wonderful to be able to communicate with him.  This week, I created a learning center around the letter "B" and I plan to do a new letter every few days.  The set-up included a sensory basket full of toys ... Preschool Alphabet – A is for Apple

October 12, 2012

Our Study of the preschool alphabet will start with, "A is for Apple." Our little "Peanut" has grown to be a healthy, happy, outgoing two-year-old.  He can already sing his ABC's and we are currently working on phonics.  Today mommy created a sensory bin (red bucket) full of apples, a foam and wood "A", and a letter "A" book with pictures of words that start with A.  In addition, we had a magnet ...
