Preschool Alphabet – D is for Drum

October 24, 2012

preschool alphabet

The dynamic duo

In our preschool alphabet “D” is for drum but “D” is also for devotion.

A devotion for the letter “D”;  “D” is for delight.

Psalm 37:4, New International Version (NIV)

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

I am so thankful that God has given us these precious children.  As I watch them play and learn, I feel the desires of my heart being fulfilled.

When I stopped to gather the toys that started with the letter “D,” I was surprised at all the things I found.  A stuffed dog, Donald Duck, dinosaur magnets and miniatures, foam dinosaurs, and flash cards with a doll, dragon and duck.  This time, in addition to the Leap Frog magnetic phonics sound maker (upper left hand corner of the magnet board), I also put the school bus from Leap Frog that names the letters of the alphabet and makes the phonetic sounds of each letter.  He calls it his “yellow table.”  Oh yes, and let’s not forget the drum.  What a delight to watch my son make “music” with a drum.

Sensory basket and board for letter “D”

Delightful, daring and always deliciously fun to watch, we are on the Letter “D” and as you can see from this video, “D” is for “Drum.”

If you are reading this blog via a reader, please click here to see the video: D is for Drum.

My little man emptied the basket as quick as a wink and told me that the dog and Donald belonged in his room.  Then he proceeded to quickly take them there.  When he returned, the dinosaurs tumbled to the table as Peanut cleared them off, and viola – he had his drum.  The rest of the action was captured on video.  This time the favorites were the drum, coloring, and peeling the paper backing off-of the foam dinosaur shapes.   Again, I printed the free printable coloring sheets from 1plus1plus1equals1.com.  She has so many fabulous printables; and I’m so thankful I can share them with my little ones.

Not to be outdone, our nine-month-old told me he wants equal view-time on the blog via video, so here’s what he has to say about the letter “D”.  I think he makes the phonetic sound in the video somewhere… (*wink).  To view the video, click this link: Baby sounds in “D”.

I pray you’ve enjoyed out latest destination in our preschool alphabet, the letter “D”.  Always delightful, sometimes daring, and forever the dynamic duo, these two look forward to sharing our next letter with you.

In His Grip,

Monica
