There are days… the days that my kids have more energy than I do. When the greatest temptation is to stay in my PJs and not leave the house. Trust me, as a mom with a four and a six year old, I have days that I just want to stay home and curl up on the couch. But I can’t, I’m a mom. And a mom’s work is never done.

Vitamin B Energy Packed Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

What is that frothy drink you may wonder… Well — it’s POWER. Yep, power in a drink. And when I’m drained and feeling not at 100% {especially around a certain time of the month} — this Vitamin B Energy Packed Strawberry Smoothie Recipe helps me get focused AND I have more energy.  I call it my “Secret Weapon Strawberry Smoothie”. Plus, it’s pretty light on calories. That’s always good news in my book!

Where does this Strawberry Smoothie Recipe come from?

Well, when I was in my teens, my period would hit me pretty hard. And my mom always had some terrific tricks up her sleeve to help me through. She spent a part of her young life growing up in Puerto Rico, and at the time, pain meds were hard to come by, so natural solutions were a great way to ease the symptoms of cramps and tiredness.

Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

Now, as a modern day mom, I’ve taken my mom’s favorites {especially the smoothie} to a whole new level AND I added a secret ingredient… you know those energy drinks that promise 5 hours of endless energy? Well, I added one to the smoothie. And guess what – it works!

Ingredients for Vitamin B Energy Packed Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

• 1 1/2 Cups of Unsweetened Almond Milk
• 1 Cup of non-fat Yogurt
• 1 Scoop of grass fed whey protein powder {I like vanilla}
• 2 Tablespoons of Honey
• 8 Medium sized strawberries – washed and trimmed – cut into 1/2 ” chuncks
• 1/2 of a 5 Hour Energy in Berry Flavor (Rough day? Add the whole bottle.)

Directions for Vitamin B Energy Packed Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

Combine everything in a blender. I love my Nutribullet. Add ice if desired. Serve with a fresh strawberry or two. Enjoy!
