Under God’s Protection

March 11, 2013

We’re wrapping up the letter “U” in our preschool alphabet study and the word that inspires me for this Monday devotional for moms is “Under” as in “under God’s Protection”.

My idea behind writing these one word devotionals is that you can think back on just one word to get you through if you’re having a tough week.  Sometimes it’s hard to carve out time to memorize scripture, but we can think back and remember one word.

The scripture that I think best coincides with our devotional on the word “under” is Psalm 91:4.

Psalm 91:4  He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

A short video on being Under God’s Protection

In the video I mentioned that the time when I felt myself most needing to rely on being under God’s care where the early days of our firstborn’s life.  Born at 30 weeks he had a myriad of challenges to overcome.  To give you an idea as to how tiny he was and how different he looked from other newborns {due to all the wires and cords} I’ve included with this post a short video.  Our baby at 30 weeks.

As moms its so easy to try and pick up the ball and carry the load on our shoulders and we forget that we are under God’s care.  This week I challenge you to permit yourself to take a break and rest in his heavenly arms, lean on his chest and breathe a sigh of relief.  I know I’m so glad God’s in control and I’m not.
I leave you with another image.  This one is of my second son when he was only a few weeks old.

See that look of peaceful rest and contentment?  He knows he’s safe and cared for.  Take a moment this week and allow yourself some rest and refreshment and to be under God’s loving protection and embrace.

In His Grip,

Monica
