An Easy Football Party Plan

When I’m pressed for time but I want to make certain I serve up a football party theme and hearty appetizers for friends and family as we watch football, I order party supplies like this fun football stadium, scene setter and football themed paper wrap online the week before the football game. Once I have a backdrop and serving supplies – the rest is really easy.

Meat Lover’s Party Food

For this week’s upcoming football playoff game, I stopped by Sam’s Club and picked up some of our meaty favorites like: Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips, State Fair® Mini Corn Dogs, and Tyson® Wings in the NEW Tequila Lime flavor. My toughest customer, when it comes to football party food, is my husband.

He’s the kind of guy who tells me soup is not a meal, and would look at me in distress if I tried to serve up a dish without meat in it.

And I’m — oh, so very thankful — that Tyson® Foods helps me feed my husband and our friends without my having to be in the kitchen all afternoon.

Thanks to Tyson® products, I also get to enjoy watching the game!

A Lifetime Football Fan

Football has been a huge part of my life. For nearly a decade I attended a football game every weekend in the fall. From junior high through college I had the privilege of cheering on my hometown football team which is a top ranking college football team – while I was in school. I am no stranger to football parties and I always love a great football game!

If you’re planning a football party I recommend drawing on the fun experiences from your enjoyment of football in years’ past. It’s a great way to find inspiration.

Tangy Fig Jam Recipe

This recipe is easy to create and is incredibly flexible. If you like a sweeter fig sauce, add more fig. If you like a bit more spice, add more ginger. Want a stronger flavor? Add a touch of salt.

Ingredients for Tangy Fig Jam Recipe

• 1 lime, for juice
• 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
• 3 tablespoons fig preserves
• 1 tablespoon chicken base
• 1 teaspoon ginger spice paste

Directions for Tangy Fig Jam Recipe

1. Gather up ingredients and set aside near your stove top.
2. Melt one tablespoon of butter in a frying pan on medium high heat.
3. Add fig preserves, chicken base, ginger, and lime juice to the melted butter in the pan.  
4. Mix until blended.
5. Saute until fig sauce bubbles and thickens. Serve alongside your favorite meaty appetizer.

Easy Prep and Football Party Food Display

To create the football appetizer themed bowls for our football party, I set up a simple and short assembly line.

I baked our Tyson® appetizers and placed them on the stove top. Then, I lined each bowl with a paper liner that I trimmed to fit inside the bowl.

I added a layer of Romaine lettuce and topped each bundle with Tyson® wings. The display is very easy to make, and it offers guests an easy way to pick up a bowl without having to dig through a casserole dish.
